My favourite feature of this pot is lid and pouring lip. No need for extra strainer it is all built in. Love the non stick coating. Only downside is it is hand wash only so I cannot put it in the dishwasher.
The cons first: 1. The pouring spouts seem like a good addition, but I found trying pouring hot liquid through the holes of the lid was awkward. 2. With the on (simmer), steam escapes through the top which make simmering next to impossible. The lid should be re-engineered. When and if that happens, Calphalon should replace the top at no charge. That being said, pros: It's very nice lightweight Dutch oven. I tried braising short ribs and the results were terrific. It does a good job browning the meat and I didn't find any hot spots. It didn't simmer well because of the escaping steam. I just added more liquid. I guess I could have sent it back, but I'll just keep it and make adjustments. Again a well engineered top would solve the problem.
Very disappointed when I opened the box. The lid was bent!! I kept it because it is still functional and I was worried it would take a long time to replace. I didn’t realize the handles have no protective heat surface so you have to use pot holders. Other than that it works well just like my Simply Calaphon set.
Great pot for cooking works great. I've ran it a few times in the dishwasher and now there a grayish powder residue left on the exterior of the pot. Inside the pot where the non-stick is at is fine. I'm just talking about the exterior of the pot, the outside all the way around the sides and the bottom it was caused by the running it in the dishwasher a few times. I'm not handwashing I don't care what is recommend by the manufacture or others. So what I did I painted with a brush with a high heat black paint I had left over from a couple of years ago from another project. If you do the same make sure you wipe off that powder residue before painting. It looks great and it's been months and the paint is fine and I barely tell I painted, one coat only by the way. Good luck.
