We really appreciate the size of this pan as you can cook up so many things in it at any one time. The high sides really cut back on grease splatters & the front handle is really convenient when moving the pan about. Comes with a good quality clear lid which really helps in reducing cooking times. A Great Pan!
Dont buy this thing. Metal is too thin and warped after JUST A SINGLE USE!!! I left the pan on the stove for over 20 minutes with the burner turned off so the pan could cool down before washing. Didnt make a difference. Cheap crap.
Not only did the pan bow after only a few uses, even with careful washing after being totally cooled down, but after 7 months something happened to the bottom of the pan that caused it to deeply scratch my cooktop!. My husband was able to get the cooktop fairly smooth by rubbing with fine sand paper and a product designed for scratches in the lenses of eyeglasses, but it was touch-and-go and pretty anxiety-inducing. I am now afraid to use the pan at all, even though he sanded the ridges off the pan bottom. I have no idea where they came from, and no assurance they will not return and scratch my cooktop again.
I was looking for a larger saute pan than the one I had so I ordered this one. Apparently I didn't realize just how big a 5 quart saute pan is. This sucker is HUGE! It's also heavy so you'll develop some good arm muscles if you use it frequently. All kidding aside, this is a well made, durable, easy to clean pan with all of the quality Calphalon is known for and you'll be grateful for it's hefty size at your next dinner party of family gathering.
The size of this pan is perfect, plenty of surface area, and the nonstick is easy to clean, but after a month or so of use, the bottom warped, and it will no longer sit flat on my ceramic stovetop. I never put it in the dishwasher or the oven. This happened with regular use. I am attempting to get a replacement per the warranty. We’ll see how that goes.
I wanted to like this. The non stick coating works great. It feels like a really well built pan. The handles are great, the lid is great. The problem? First use, it warps. I went no higher than medium heat on my stove. It warps so bad it spins like a top. Literally the weight of the spoon causes to to spin. Forget trying to stir without holding the handle. I figured I just got a bad one, so I got a replacement from Amazon. Same thing happened on the second. I'd return it for a refund, but I used a coupon that is no longer valid, so I'll just have to deal with it. I would not recommend this at all.
I have been on the hunt for an adequate saute pan to replace my absolute favorite which needed to be retired. Who knew this was going to be such a gargantuan task?!?! This is my THIRD try. The other two were cheap (<$30), so I figured the quality came down to 'you get what you pay for'. I figured if I invested more than I would get a better result. I thought wrong. While it looks and feels great out of the box, the performance is pretty sub par. When trying to braise meat using medium heat, the middle warps and causes uneven cooking with burning in the middle and raw on the outsides. What a waste of money and space in my already crowded cabinets. More landfill fodder. Now on to pan #4 I guess.
