I bought these pans thinking they would be better than cheap ones. But we only used them a few months, on occasion and the small pan has no scratches but the larger one has many scratches even though we only use Teflon utensils. It's so soft that I can scratch it easily with my finger nail. I don't like the bolts on the inside of be the pan either. Everything, especially eggs, sticks to them. I wouldn't buy these again. I would have returned them to Amazon but it's too late now. Someone said there is a warrenty which I read but I would have to ship the pan to Calphalon at my expense and it's not worth it. Lesson learned.
The small pan is great, the larger pan was not perfectly flat and rocks slightly on the burner. I'm sure Amazon would have allowed me to return them but I didn't feel like bothering so I will just us it as is. Otherwise the build quality seems good and the nonstick surface works very well. Clean up is easy.
Shame on Calphalon for producing a low end piece of cookware. Thin metal overall, which means it will warp easily and the handles are so thin that they are actually sharp, as are the edges of the pot. I would never have bought these if I could have held them first, but I trusted the brand to be like my old ones. Try Eurocast or Ecowin
I’m giving this product a 3 stars because of the fact the handle gets super hot on the smaller pan. I was heading up a pizza on my pan, and when I went to pick up the pan, the handle was so hot I burnt myself! I couldn’t believe how hot it was. And I wasn’t even grabbing super close to the pan itself. I glad to get a towel to wrap around the handle before I could pick it up. Now I have to get a head resistance handle cover which will cost me more money.
Yes, it will hold 7 qts, when filled to the very top of the rim! The measure markings they have inside stop at 6 qts, with another 3/4 inches to the very top. You can clearly see the mark stops with 4 qt on their picture of the 5 qt Dutch oven. Other than that, it seemed just like the other Calphalon pots I have. It was returned.
Poor truth in advertising. We had a 6 quart Dutch Oven. We really wanted a 6 quart but Calphalon only sold a 7 quart. When we got the 7 quart, it strangely looked about the size of our OLD 6 quart but the BOX said it was a 7 quart. We pulled out our OLD 6 quart (capacity was stamped on the bottom) and it was EXACTLY the dimensions (diameter and depth) of the NEW 7 quart. We are happy with what we got BUT can't understand how Calphalon can advertise a 7 quart that only holds 6 quarts. TRUTH IN ADVERTISING!
The glass lid design for the Calphalon Classic Nonstick Dutch Oven with Cover, is the problem. The inside of the glass lid will catch any small food item cooked in this Dutch Oven. Small particles of food will wedge in-between the glass lid and metal sides, making it difficult to remove. Other than problem of the food being stuck in the lid it is a nice dutch oven.
After just 8 months the pan coating is showing a lot of wear around the outer band in the interior of the pan, where the bottom of the pan and sides meet. All my pans in the past seem to take the beating and wear in the middle of the pan but this one shows up on the outside portion.
