I love this pot. It’s very nicely weighted, even heat. It’s strong and sturdy It says you can use metal utensils with this pot however I would not do that. I use either wood or silicone. Always better safe than sorry. I just think metal over time will scratch anything
Love this line of pans. We have 3 others. Heavy! But I'd rather have durability over lighter weight. Very easy to clean and the handle does not get hot as a reviewer mentioned. Maybe if you are using multiple burners and one of those burners is under the handle, then yes, it'll get hot, but thats user error.
Also, the coat wearing away is unusual and should be exchanged for a new one. As I mentioned, I have 4 of these pans and no issues with the coating scratching/peeling off. Sounds again like user error or maybe its because we treat our pans well. Hand wash only, soft scrub pad for cleaning (because you never need anything rougher, nothing sticks) and only wood and silicone utensils... no metal. Its just common sense, you will eventually scratch through a surface if you use something abrasive like scotch green pad or metal utensil - who cares how its advertised, its physics.
Anyways, the main reason for this review is to point out an annoying design flaw to the lid of the 2QT pan. The design for the underside edge has a small lip, and on the inside of that lip water gets trapped. This is just poor design because instead of being able to hand dry, I have to wait at least a day for it to dry up on the drying rack. I contacted Calphalon about this and unfortunately Calphalon uses outsourced customer service so there was little chance of me getting some answers. They did send me a replacement lid, same issue, but now I just alternate lids, yes its silly but I can't return it and I don't think they make a different type of glass lid. See picture for reference.
I've been using Calphalon for years, in its various design iterations. This pan is solid, but not too heavy. Non-stick coating is slick and seems durable. Lid seal is tight, to the point that condensation builds up on glass lid and obscures view into the pot.
My husband bought a Calaphon cookware set about a year ago from Costco and we love it. So easy to clean. The set he bought only came with a giant pot and cooking a single packet of Top Ramen was a little ridiculous, so I bought this and it's perfect!
Always liked the look and feel of this Calphalon pot. Bought the set several years ago and this size saw a lot of use. After 3 years of wear and tear it was showing it's age so decided to get a replacement. This one seems even better that the fist one.
Worst P.O.S. you can buy. If you don’t want to ingest the metal coating, don’t buy this. I bought one was sent with chips of the nonstick lining missing. Returned it. Got one that looked fine, but after 2 uses the lining is disappearing.
