The physical drive: using Crystal Disk, results show it's decent. 4.5 stars
Software: it is terrible. The Crucial disk management software messed up my OS. Had to reinstall because the partition was messed up. 2 stars.
Now running without any disk manager and it's fine.
Value 4.5 stars.

1. It has more reliability than Samsung 860 evo from data given by companies, though both have 5 years warranty.
2.It is a bit cheaper than Samsung 860 evo.
3. Crucial(Micron) is a reliable company
4. In real world you don't see any difference between MX500 and Samsung 860 evo.
Micron has no support in India yet!
Always leave around some space empty (here 50GB) in any SSD for it to work properly.
Right now(2018) only Samsung, Micron makes good SSD.
The reason for my 3-star rating relates to the free software Crucial provides (via download from their website) to clone data from one drive to the other. I downloaded it without problem and started the program, only to be told in a pop-up box that the software only works if you're transferring from an existing Crucial drive. As my old drive was Intel, the free software wouldn't work. But, of course, the site then offered a "full" version of the software for $49 USD which would allow me to clone from the Intel drive. Well, I said, "Forget that!" (Although using a slightly different word starting with an F). I found some pretty good freeware on the web, called MiniTool Partition Wizard, that did the job quickly and easily. So, just a heads up to prospective purchasers, if you're replacing a drive that's not the Crucial brand, you'll need to either buy the full version of Crucial's cloning software (hahahaha, yeah right), or use some freeware off the web. I thought this was pretty cheap of Crucial, and I'm not impressed; hence, I dock two stars from this review.
* Helpful votes always appreciated *
Software to clone HD to this SSD not quite straight forward (so lost a star there). Software didn't recognize the drive when installed on one of the SATA ports for HDD. I had to switch it to a USB SATA port to get it to be seen. Bizarre. Cloned HDD easily there after. I then reconfigured motherboard and installed this SSD as my primary drive. Worked OK there after. Lots of messing about and head scratching up to there but results well worth it for boot-up speed.
Update: Almost on its 1 year anniversary the thing died on me. Won't by Crucial again. From 4* to 1*. I'd give it zero if I could.
My original review is below. I do recommend the drives again but only with the proviso that I may edit this review again in the future if one of the drives fails again. I hope not. I do recommend these drives but except to wait quite a considerable amount of time and effort waiting for a replacement drive. They are very cheap drives when on sale and are very good for the money. I just question the quality of said drives since the failure. Do buy them if you want an affordable drive. If you want guaranteed quality no matter the cost then I recommend Samsung drives over Crucial.
Bought two in October of 2020.
They worked great for about 8 months.
Just today (9th June 2021) one of the drives died. Completely stone cold dead.
I tried power cycling the drive to see if it would come back to life.
Alas it never did. I had to RMA a drive that is 8 months old. 8 MONTHS and it's dead already!
My boot SSD & Hard Drive have been in my computer for over 4 years and have yet to show any signs of slowing down. This drive that I buy suddenly decides it wants to stop working.
I have built well over 20 PCs in my time and this is the first time I’ve used crucial, now I bought this drive because it was £30 cheaper than the Samsung but I needed two disc so I bought one of each crucial and a Samsung, fitting was easy but using the transfer data was completely different story, the Samsung software was a dream and couldn’t be any easier....however crucial transfer was a nightmare to a point I actually phoned there I.T help line and all she could say when I gave her the error code is....I don’t know what that is I have never heard it? That was until I told her it’s on the crucial forums own website and it’s listed there from people posting help on there page for last 5years ?.....don’t you read the community forum on your help page how can you not know?.....however she was very polite and I did sort the problem my self....So if you want a backup drive then crucial is a great buy at the moment but if you have to use there windows transfer you may have problems
