I've had this monitor mount for about a month now, and feel that I've used it enough to give it a thorough review.
I bought this specifically for a 24 inch ThinkVision monitor (T24i-10), with the recessed VESA mounting as you can see in the attached picture and it fit perfectly. I was a bit apprehensive because upon reading the description, unlike some other reviewers, I thought that I may have to make some modifications to make the mount work because it actually says "not compatible with recessed mount" in the first bullet.
Despite the description, I purchased it anyway because this monitor mount allows the monitor to be lowered when I need it to be. And, I figured if the recessed mount was a problem, nothing some spacers and longer screws from Home Depot couldn't fix for a few dollars. Adapt and overcome, right?
I'm glad that I purchased this, because in the month I've been using it, it's working flawlessly. Installation was a snap, adjustments were done once and I haven't had to readjust since. As you can see in the picture, this monitor mount sits atop my work monitors, and I regularly reposition it for some gaming and non work-related browsing activities. It comes down about half way of the other monitors, and if I lift my chair then it's perfect.
For the price and functionality, I couldn't find a better mount, and now that I've used it daily, I couldn't think of a better solution without spending significantly more.
The versatility of the clamp is what got me. I didn’t want to drill, but wanted something that felt secure. My roommate introduced me to this product. His has functioned flawlessly for 2+ years, and so far, so has mine. You’ll want to play with the tension a bit as, out the box, it comes pretty stiff. Adjusting the arm has minimal off set. Less than 3 Cm’s if tension is set right. Accessing the tension bolt is a bit of a drag, as you have to push down the arm to expose the Allen bolt. But even with the inconvenience the arm was set in place in less than 10 minutes. Mounting horizontal is a breeze. But be wary of how low your monitor is when you push down to expose the tension bolt. It’s better to set the arm high on pillar and adjust it down, than to start low and need to adjust the height later to expose the tension bolt. Would buy again for next monitor install.
Bought two of these stands - one is holding a 27" 4K Dell monitor - easy piece of cake - simple to move, adjust and rotate. Installation was a breeze since the monitor had a standard vesa mount.
For the second screen I bought a vesa mount convertor to hold a heavy 5K iMac 27" model - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RW9F336 - this stand holds the imac really well - can and needed to adjust the tensioner since this is at the very upper end of the stands weight limit but it's solid, seem sturdy and I am very pleased with the result.
In my case I did not use the C clamp style mount, I chose to drill two holes in my desk - one for each stand - each hold is 3/8" in diameter and the supplied installation kit had everything necessary to accomplish this.
I find these stands are such a great value for the $$.
My work environment has been a work in progress since the pandemic. These monitor stands were a big help. I started with books but I couldn't get the correct angle on my laptop screen due to the clutter. This stand was easy to install and I was surprised how well the clamp holds the stand to the desk. I started out with one and when I saw how well it worked I bought another but just used one pole.
Build quality is good. The product feels nice & secure.
It does get tight if your desk is against a wall but I was able to get my desired positions by moving the pole. I bought these simply to get a better viewing angle and declutter the desk; I don't plan on moving them around a lot like they show in the product information. They hold their position well. I'm very pleased with the product and at that price it can't be beat.
I bought a 27" monitor whose stand stuck too far out behind it. I couldn't get the monitor out of my face, so I bought this desk mount stand. It doesn't fold in on itself perfectly, so I had to install it behind/beside the monitor instead of directly behind it, but once I realized that (and re-filled the first hole I drilled in my desk), it worked perfectly! Adjusting it to the weight of my monitor took only a few minutes, and it stays where ever I place it.
The monitor stand comes with both a clamp mount and a drill-through mount. My desk is designed in such a way that the drill-through mount was necessary. If yours will accommodate the clamp mount, it'll be even easier to install.
I’ve never owned one of these before, but now I always have one. I have a pretty large monitor and I was skeptical that I could simply move it around to where I wanted. But that’s exactly what this thing does and it does it really well.
Update: Still the best monitor arm I’ve ever had. It’s been two years and has a cost me a bit of trouble.
I ordered 2 of these in case i ever wanted to have my 2 monitors mounted separately. One received defective - reached out to customer service. They are super responsive and friendly. I was told one of my two arms were one of thousands mismanufactured products and arranged new arm delivery. I refunded and ordered different arms not because I was unhappy with the product but was getting very annoyed with this defective arm and waiting for the replacement arm to be delivered. Now I think about it I should have ordered to receive replacememt on Amazon but I messed it all up in process ended up returning.
I have to say that the price swayed my decision on buying this monitor stand. I needed a stand to mount a single monitor and I didn't want to spend $50 to buy another desk mount. There are some 5 star review and some 1 star reviews of this item. I'm pleased to say that this stand exceeded my expectations by a large margin. This mount is super sturdy - yes, even with the plastic piece that mounts the arm to the pole. Range of motion is excellent as well. Packing was secure and lots of easy to follow instructions were provided as well. If I ever need another mount, I will definitely purchase again.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting a ton for this price point, but this thing was perfect. Really quite easy to assemble, and seems super sturdy for my monitor.
I would DEFINITELY recommend having another person (2 people total) available for installation -- it makes it 1000 times easier.
One thing to think about is that because of the way that the vertical bar is set up, it doesn't have perfect every-direction movement available *IF* the monitor is close to the bar. If you have a bigger desk it won't be a concern.
I bought this stand for my monitor because the included stand was too tall. This stand works just as advertised and I like the adjustability. I can now place my screen exactly where I want it. It can be raised or lowered easily, rotated 90 degrees, and pushed forward and back to suit your viewing needs. I like that it gives my monitor the impression that it's floating when you look at it. And it also gives me a bunch more desk space where a normal monitor stand would have taken up quite a bit of area. The setup is fairly easy and straight forward. The cable management can be a little frustrating to install but once you get it the cables are nice and tucked away. I recommend making sure that you can fully extend the monitor in all directions before you make your final cable adjustments because I had my power cable too taught and when I rotated the screen, it ripped out of the back of my monitor. The clamps and screws are sturdy and don't feel cheap or flimsy. Once installed the stand isn't going anywhere. If I have a complaint about this stand it is that it does tend to bounce around a little if you shake your desk at all. This problem is probably worse with heavier and larger monitors. However, I don't think any stand of this sort will completely eliminate this issue due to the nature of arm stands. It can also be a little annoying to get your screen perfectly level as there is no notch to tell you when it is in the normal position. You just have to eyeball it. I should also mention that I bought the stand when it was $20 and the price has since incresed to $35. Who knows why but I'd say it's still a great purchase at this price. Forget the "amazon basics" stand for $100+... What a rip-off just buy this stand and you won't be disappointed.
