Overall this lap desk is ok and not great. I really like cushion except it has this weird chemically-acetone smell. I can't really describe it but it smells terrible and I don't know why. I have a surface tablet with a detachable keyboard and it is a bit small because the keyboard does not fit in between the non-slip support bar and the ledge. Also, the non-slip support bar is already coming off after having this for 2 weeks. (I can just reglue it but it's just inconvenient). I really like the color and the slit on the side for pencils and your phone, but I would not buy this again. This is overpriced for what you're getting; walmart has cheaper ones

bought to replace an old laptop 'lap' tray where the filling had gone flat... when I opened it the smell almost knocked me out..the beanbag filling has an awful smell.. I know sometimes with these things you need to let it air out... well the odor, while not as strong, is still there a few days later. Just decided to keep it as a backup tray but will use the old one and look around for something better.. don't buy! it is too 'stiff' and doesnt give the comfort of the old one I have and you are better off w a piece of wood imo.

OK, what do people want to do with a lap desk? Usually put a mouse or trackpad on it.

But on this one, forget it. I put my $150 Apple Magic Trackpad on it one time, and it slipped off and smashed the glass surface, ruining it. That was an expensive accident! Can't use a mouse either because it won't stay put.

Everything else about the lap desk is good - but they need a non-slip surface instead of the super slick plastic, or it is not usable.

The surface of the product was small just like I wanted and it was light weight, but it has way too little padding/filling. the result is the plastic edge of the surface is against me constantly as I use it making it very uncomfortable.

So this seemed great when it came, and it is sturdy on the top. But within a week of using it, the polystyrene balls inside had started to compress so the cushion part is now a lot smaller than when I got it. It'd be nice if there was a zip to open and replace them when they flatten but unfortunately not. I was pretty disappointed considering it wasn't cheap and it was the Wirecutter top pick. I would t buy it again, I'd go for one with an actual cushion underneath.

I'm quite sad my product arrived with a crack going from the front to the center of the desk. Other than this defect, the product doesn't seem bad at all. I really would've left a 5 star review if mine hadn't arrived damaged.

This lap desk is lightweight but still seems supportive. It has a slightly textured surface for your laptop to rest on, and is great if you want a lap desk that does what you need it to without being really large and awkward.

The slot on the side holds my phone just fine. It doesn't look like it would fall out easily.

There's a long, slender rubber bar at the top of the lap desk that holds your laptop neatly in place even while typing, and a smaller but slightly steeper plastic bar at the bottom of the desk that must be there as a backup guard in case your laptop were to slide off the rubber bar above it.

I had this for 10 days when I picked it up and noticed some very small white Styrofoam beads on the table. On inspection I found the cloth was separating from the top and if left alone my house would soon be covered in a few thousand of these beads. Back it goes!!

I bought this to use my Lenovo Legion Slim 7 on the couch. The whole reason was to keep the heat off my thighs. The heat still gets thru the plastic tray AND the bead pouch on the bottom. There are not a lot of beads and it's not great. The phone slot works but kinda useless.

Would not buy again or recommend to a friend. Would spend a little more for a different product.

Right out of the package, I knew it felt cheap. Yes, I know, the price was cheap. I just couldn’t get past the flimsy plastic top and the cheap feel of the bottom cushion. Would it have worked, for a little while; sure. I know I have seen higher quality items for around the same price point. Sorry LapGear, just not a great product. Nothing spectacular. If you’re in the market for a cheap lap desk (price and feel), it should be right up your alley. If you are looking for a high quality lap desk, look elsewhere.
