I bought these candles from the same supplier as the luminaria holders. So one would expect them to work well. Rather than the way most candles are made where the wick is embedded in the wax, these were made by drilling a hole through the wax and threading the wick through. As a result there was no wax holding the wick in place. We put out 56 luminarias and fully 40% of the wicks fell out, a number of them as soon as we lifted them from the box. We had to get other candles to complete the display. We also found this morning that one of the candles had melted a hole right through the holder. Very disappointing.
I purchased these because we burned through almost all our smaller 4 hour tea light candles. I needed a candle to last longer for our flea traps. Just google - water and candle flea trap. This has been a very effective method, also to determine if you have fleas in a particular area.
After 6 tried... Advertised as 10 hour and it's a solid 6 hour burn. First you must straighten the wick to light, then it falls out. Sometimes the wick burns to a cinder and won't light. You must light the candle holding it sideways somewhat inverted.
These were purchased for my daughter’s wedding reception gift bags. I had previously purchased customized votive candle holders with their names and wedding date printed on them. Once received, I didn’t realize the candles were not included. So I went to Amazon of course for the bulk purchase that I needed in a hurry. When I received them, I was a little taken back. About half of the candles were loose and rolling around inside the box. Some were a little bit damaged and a few did not have wicks, which made them useless to me. I was so very upset that I called into Amazon to report the problem. I could not have spoke to a nicer person on the phone. I do not remember her name, but I appreciated how well she handled my frantic demeanor when I spoke with her about the issue at hand. Luckily, I always over order just in case something goes wrong, so I could make sure to have enough for the gift bags. The Amazon representative allowed me to vent and then proceeded to refund and credit my account for the purchase that I had made. I was frustrated when I called and she made it all better. Thank you.
The candles arrived in horrible condition. Most of them have sections missing. They are cheap & falling apart. I took one out to place it on a holder thinking maybe it wouldn’t be so bad once they were in holders, I mean you’re just going to burn it anyway, but it just crumbled into pieces. Also, as you can see in the video the “white” color was actually a cream. I am using these for a wedding I needed a true white color
Following the burning instructions is actually necessary unless you find a good fitting holder. Burning for a short while then letting it cool will greatly improve it's performance. I let one just burn and it promptly self destructed in 4 hours. The votive holder i used was akin to a small stemless wine goblet so using a tighter fitting votive holder may help to avoid baby sitting each candle each time. The candles are a press formed style candle "not the denser pour formed" much like a tea light. Thus containing a little less wax but the price is right.
I read the reviews and decided to try for myself. I need them for approx 5.5 hr dinner. I monitored while cleaning the house. They lasted almost 6 hours so have decided to keep. For the money, it great. I would pay a bit more for truly 10 hr burning candles but couldn’t seem to find any.
They say these votive candles burn for up to ten hours. Ummm.. in what world? I burned mine for 3hrs, no draft, they were 80% gone. I would say these may burn for 4 hours tops, definitely not a super long burning candle. The price was decent for the quantity I purchased, but that probably it's best perk. Shame, they arent close to what the post states. I was a bit sceptical, as I should've been.
Love these White Votive Candles. I will be using for my 6 oz mason jars. In this photo, from left to right, I have a tea cup laying down which I use as a tester with the remaining of what is left after I lit up the candle. The candle was on for 11 hours with more to go as seen in the tea cup. The candle has no smell. Next is a 6 oz mason jar, after that is a 24 oz mason, followed by a 12 oz mason jar and the last one is the tea cup sitting up. I don't know exactly how big is the tea cup but I will assume that it's about 2 oz. Hope this helps. Oh and shipment was super fast to N.J.
