5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!

This product is great. Bought it for my son for Christmas. He is six years old so I had to help him set it up. Within 24 hours you could see the crystals start to form. Every day, you could tell that there was some growth and it continued to grow while the water evaporated. The longer you leave it, the more it will grow. Patience is key. That can be hard to do with a six year old. He was so excited to wake up every morning to see the growth. Takes a while but it is worth the wait. The attached picture was after the sixth day but we decided to leave it there for longer to see if it would grow bigger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Christmas present she got!
Reviewed in the United States on 6 January 2018
I got this last minute on a whim. It's the best Christmas present she got. She's obsessed with the "Crystal book" that came with the kit. That was a nice added bonus. My 3yo now wants to be a scientist when she grows up. I'll definitely be checking out more NatGeo products in the future.

Kit takes less than 10 min to put together. Just enough time. I definitely recommend letting it sit the extra time as recommended. And with this color you cant watch it grow because the purple is so dark. Didn't bother us because it was an awesome surprise when we poured out the liquid.

Word of advice-- use a wide mouth glass container. I had to bust the mason jar to get the crystal out because it was so big!

I was initially skeptical about the crystals that were growing since I was growing it in a Tupperware container with an uneven bottom and an Abalone shell over it (yikes) buttttt it turned out great.

Next time: if I want the shell to be completely covered I will fully immerse the shell and leave it wayyy longer

And

If I want a proper crystal I won't cover the mixture with a shell (duh)

Overall, it's a wonderful kit and I definitely recommend it

:-)

I bought this kit for my granddaughter and with her fathers' help a lovely batch of crystals grew over a 7 day period. The first tiny crystals appeared within 24 hours and after 7 days the crystals looked as they are in the attached photo. Easy to set up and results were good.

3.0 out of 5 stars No glow, slow grow, box of hurry up and wait.

Crystals do not glow, the half dome that is provided for them to grow on is the only thing that glows. Our crystals got very little height and don't resemble the picture on the box. Steps were a bit tricky to get in order despite pictographs but eas after re-reading. After a few weeks, we got bored of waiting for something else to happen and pulled the formation out from solution. There are small individual crystals and you can pull off and they look consistent, but small. Meh, I was expecting something from the box, either glowing green crystals or a tall cluster, got neither.
