This is the best present I could imagine. My 5 year old grandson and I spent hours building one project after another that night - basic lights with switches, alarms with different volumes etc. from the first section. When I came to drive him to pre-school, I discovered he'd gotten his papa up at 6AM to build more. That night after school, we built an AM radio and the wireless microphone. Too bad one must disassemble one project to build another.

The organization, color coding and numbering is wonderful, and encourages putting all pieces back into their plastic wells before beginning the next project. This 76 year old ham radio operator remembers from the 1950s when we stripped down old radios for their components and took days - weeks - to build a radio from the ARRL handbook or Popular Electronics.

I can't recommend this enough! It is great!

I am a nanny and bought this for my 7 year old boy that is somewhat interested in robotics. He's really into Legos and building things but I wanted something that he could use more than just the one time that you typically build a Lego set before it sits around. I had a hard time deciding whether to buy this or the junior circuit set because this says it's for ages 8 and up but I'm glad I got this one! I'm also fresh out of high school so I've recently used circuit sets in my physics class and dreaded them so I was worried as to whether or not he would enjoy this enough as a toy. I was way off base! We spent 10 hours just playing with this toy alone and barely made a dent in all of the 300+ projects available to build! At 19 I even genuinely enjoyed all of the projects we built! The instructions are fairly clear to build each of the projects but I think reading the paragraphs in order to understand the science behind each one went a little over his head at 7. Even after he read the paragraphs, he didn't understand most of them. Overall I think it was a great buy and he absolutely loved it! This will definitely keep him busy for a long time and it will be hard to get bored of with all of the options available!

With our oldest grandson's 8th birthday rapidly approaching, I have to say sometimes I think my husband and I get just as much of a kick out of choosing gifts related to his professed future occupations as he does in receiving them! Those occupations have run the gamut from Super Hero to his latest - electrical engineer, and we were so excited when we came across this neat looking kit that would allow he and his dad to work on "over 300 exciting projects" together (305, to be exact!) Well, one recent rainy Sunday we brought breakfast over to our son and daughter-in-law's house so they wouldn't have to traipse over to our place - where the majority of our visiting happens - with the grandkids in the sloshy weather, and afterwards, the boys couldn't wait to show us some of the toys Santa had brought that we hadn't yet had an opportunity to see. GUESS what one of the oldest's was? Yep - this exact same set!

We were initially really disappointed since it looked like we'd be returning what had seemed like the perfect gift, but my son assured me that another of these sets would only EXPAND his fun, increasing his ability to build more elaborate projects. After seeing our grandson's excitement and sense of accomplishment while deftly putting together (with a few reminders from Dad) a couple of different contraptions, we knew we'd struck gold with this set. There are two separate instruction manuals included (I'll list the individual projects in the last couple of paragraphs - there are a bunch, so just skip it if you don't need that much nitty gritty.) If you have a budding electrical engineer in your home, we're betting he/she gets as much enjoyment out of this set as our grandson (and his dad!) already have, with many more hours of "bonding" ahead of them!

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter to try and get her more into STEM projects and it's a little bit intimidating as a first dive into the field. It's not super engaging for a kid who isn't already super engaged in this stuff. The snapboard is fantastic, and the pieces are great. The projects are interesting, but again, as much as it pains me to admit, its not gonna grab the attention of every kid.

This is a great toy for a great value (I paid $42 for it). As a high school physics teacher, I am usually very disappointed in "science toys" and their quality and price and rarely ever buy them for my kids. This toy delivers everything it says. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with this toy. My 10 year old easily spent about 8 hours with this the first two days. I was amazed at the science she was learning about circuits while having lots of fun (she periodically would ask me to explain how/why something worked but that information was not needed to play with the toy). I think for kids that enjoy building things (think Legos) this is the perfect toy. My 7 yr old also enjoyed playing with it and could follow the directions all on her own. Great educational toy. So glad I went with this toy over Little Bits (which look great but are very expensive). I think it would be great for schools as well that are thinking of purchasing these to teach about circuits (appropriate for elementary and middle school students).
