To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Don't get distracted by the sheer number of reviews for this book. Better books exists. This book appears good on the outside. As a parent of two kids, I realised that the book actually fails to explains concepts well. I later started finding too many graphics distracting to quickly summarize the reading. When I bought "Help Your Kids with Science (DKYR): A Unique Step-by-Step Visual Guide", I realised that the quality of images, explanation and coverage and concept is far superior in DK book than this one. The DK book is cheaper as well. I would highly recommend to skip all books in this series by Workman (I have bought Math one as well), and instead buy the DK "Help your kid with..." series books. All of them are super good. Parents and kids both will find the DK "Help your kid with..." Geography, Science, Math and English simply of superb quality. Skip this Workman publishing book.
The chapters read like a textbook and as I’m reading it, I have no clue what it’s taking about. My 11 year old also doesn’t understand what she is reading. We try to do the chapter questions together, but they’re no written the same as the text, making it even harder for us to answer the question without cheating.
not exactly what I was hoping for, but dealing with it! These books (bought all 5) definitely don't cover enough ground (especially math) on the topics, which made me end up having to do a lot of research and work anyways, and now their basically being used as paper weights :(
