To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Now I can't even do a return or exchange. There is no means for me to do that on this website. I've contacted our local service agent for Logitech and they don't accept products that are purchased through an online platform.
Now, I'm left with a useless product which I paid for S$170/-. This is bad. I should have bought from our local store like Challenger, etc.
I don't shop online often (no i'm not old, i just like trying things on!) The price on this was about 150% above the cost listed on the logitech website, i didn't notice until after ordering (assuming this was the slightly below most expensive, slightly above budget option) Figured that kind of price gauging was illegal or at least not something i would find on amazon, lesson learnt Kept anyway as its not worth my time (and more money) to return Just a heads up!
Logitech's website has a nice little "matrix" of Webcams and OSes... which recommends a certain driver, the ONLY driver it 'recommends' for Win 10 64-bit. Part of the release notes for that driver? "Only Certified for Windows 8. Only Installs on Windows 8." The driver claims to install, but the computer reminds me on every boot up to "complete the driver installation." And no software will recognize that the camera is even plugged in. I cannot recommend this camera unless you're using Windows 8 or older - they do not appear to have ANY certified Windows 10 Drivers, despite the time the OS has been available.
I hope I'm not that guy who gives a scathing review when the product they received was a 'lemon.' However, the optics were appalling in this overpriced device. I also purchased the "PC Webcam for Streaming HD 1080P, Vitade 960A" and the "JIFFY Full HD 1080P HDR." Both of these webcams far outperformed the Logitech C920 Pro, and they are about 70% of the cost. I have spent hours and purchased and tested four separate HD webcams on Amazon.ca. And, no, I'm not paid by anyone to do this. In fact, it has cost me valuable time, and I'm more than happy to tell others to avoid this product, unless you're interested in trying it out to see if the one I got was just defective.
The auto focus on this camera is BRUTAL!!! always blurry, doesn't react to movement well at all! I searched online and the only fix apart from getting another one, which will simply have the same problem, is to take it apart and rotate the lense 90 degrees, which obviously voids any warranty. Well... I did that anyway, because it is a total hassle to try for a return or exchange and I did not have time to try the process all over again with a meeting coming up in 2 days and a week wasted. The fix worked. Logitech needs to up their game and fix this problem in the factory!!!
I’m not sure what the company did to this camera, buy it now SUCKS. I am an online streamer, and use this camera daily for work. I have gone through 3 of these cameras in the last 3 years just due to over use. I have always been so happy with this camera, and would never buy something else. I just had to replace it again because of my own error, i dropped it and it broke (lol) but the camera i bought to replace my broken one is not the same camera i have bought in the past. The colour is off, not a clear image, it no longer works with my camera setting for my mac. I am very disappointed with this camera and have to find another one to use instead.
Now on my 2nd one after a warranty return for focus problems - same issue. The above is a pic from a well done & watched youtube video by Walkers Keyboard Science where Walker takes apart a C920 to rotate the camera lens 90 degrees to improve the auto focus.
Many times now during a zoom call my C920 /C920S has gone out of focus and could not auto focus in - I had to go to manual focus & focus back in during a zoom call. Walker does a VERY good side-by-side test with another brand of webcam to show how the C920 loses focus & doesn't quite auto focus to optimum.
Strange because I have used the C720 & C310 on my work computer flawlessly for several years for TEAM and zoom calls. Though they are NOT auto focus, they have never gone out-of-focus - and really ? Why would you ever want your camera to go out-of-focus ????? Stupid marketing bells & whistles.
C920 & C920S are identical - the S is the nice plastic clip on shield - so you will see that the C920 is not offered anymore - again, marketing trick of duplication of products to appear like many models offered, but really identical, just with an option.
Another issue is the camera software - there is a manual/auto focus button - however on manual it bottoms to the left when manually focusing - so you never really know if it is in focus on the slider - the focus point on the slider should be somewhere in the middle with both under AND over shoot on the adjustment - that way you are assured of where the focus is.
The camera software you download also has issues - the controls do NOT pan and zoom the C920 so you can preset BEFORE your call and not DURING your call, once on zoom or TEAMS. I use my C920 for professional online presentations and nothing speaks "AMATEUR" more than adjusting to your green screen DURING a video call.
Sad as this model is a $30 premium over their lesser cost models mentioned above that work just as well - so don't waste you money for this premium camera and stick with their C720 or C310 models.
There is also a long thread of many users on the Logi support page that also document the above. No response from Logi, despite several attempts to ask Logi to chime in with their response.
Despite that, it is well built, its nicely on top of a monitor, dual mics & good adjustments with option for screw in tripod mount. But if it can't focus properly, what's the point - in the end, it is what people you are doing a video call with that will see your picture quality.
Very sad that Logi would release such an inferior model with such a good name, at quite a costly asking price, as I have used Logi accessories (webcams, keyboard, mice, headset) for decades in the PC environment.
After several months of use, testing, reading, trying - now looking for another webcam and VERY hesitant to pay still more for a logitech upgrade, fearing similar camera control problems
Sad I know when you can see the C920 has the highest ratings - good example how a good brand like LOGI can override major problems that several of us users have uncovered, tested & correspondent about.
