Black candles are not the easiest to find. I don’t need scented candles for my purposes and prefer something small like tea lights. These smell terrible. I didn’t even have to open the shipping package and could smell it. They smell toxic. I add oils and herbs before burning the candles and can’t really smell any fumes when burning (thankfully!). I will tolerate it until I use them up but definitely will not repurchase.
VERY SMALL CANDLES - I should have read the reviews. Indeed these are unsually small candles (almost 1/2 size of regular tea lights). Not sure what the "Mega" in the product name comes from, maybe "Mega Mistake" from my part for not reading the reviews. Attaching some images.
You get what you pay for. I have never bought tea lights made of such cheap wax. I've burned over 20 of them so far and not a single one lasts more than 1.5 hours -2 hours and there is always half the wax left behind. I'm ashamed I thought "100 candles for $10, how bad could they be?" Pretty bad is the answer. I feel swindled
these are what they are, cheap candles. The aluminum cup is the thinnest, smallest, chinsiest material you can possibly imagine. The wicks seem to have their own issues; sometimes burning, sometimes not. The candles can last 15 minutes before going out, never to be relit or burn for 3+ hours. Does not seem to be any noticeable scents, odors, or soot, so they seem to be very clean burning. So buying and using these candles depends exactly on what you want. They are not going to work in a chafing dish or as one of those terra cotta room warmers. For a scented potpurri/essential oil burner, probably. If you just want a little candle on your altar for morning prayers, great. So before buying these because they are inexpensive, remember you get what you pay for. For me, they work just fine.
They seem smaller than normal, as I only use these for my oil warmer and the flame barely reaches the bottom of the oil basin. I literally take a new/fresh candle and set it atop a used/empty tea light tin in order to come close to where I need it to be inside the warmer. Also, once lit, the flame burns very small. I'm not sure why. Lastly, you HAVE to use the entire tea light without blowing it out, or it will not re-light. There must be an issue with the wick, apparently. Not worth the money.
UPDATE: (3/12/16) I added pics of a Mega Candles' tea light (above the red arrows) next to a normal sized candle bought from Walgreens. (set of 50 for $5) You can see how much smaller the Mega Candles' product is and why I was having a hard time using them in my oil warmer.
I keep ordering these candles over and over and over again. I use six every night for dinner and ambience. They last for hours approximately, do not leak, do not overflow. I can light them and forget about them. At the end of the evening the candle goes out the next morning I just take them out of the candleholder and throw them away ...couldn’t be easier. They do not smell they do not smoke I love them. They come in a pack of 100 packed in plastic, I wish they came in a box like they used to but it is what it is. Otherwise I love these candles
Hope the seller takes notice. I purchased in their candles past without issues, last 2 orders ( black and red) came in a packaging that had no structure, the tins are very thin and bent and the finish is GRITTY. Last order of white and black - again black candles are gritty and all beaten up (Barcode X001VKL8KP) while the white candles have nice shiny finish and packed nicely in layers. Order arrived in the same box, so I dont believe this may be an issue of storage conditions in a different warehouse. Burn time is not affected but wont purchase again if the quality wont return to the same standards as it used to be
Unfortunately the quality of this product is poor. The flame gets off before the candle finishes almost on 80% of the whole package. I did read other people’s Revews about this problem before I bought mine but I disregarded them. Now it is what it is. Too bad. I suggest at the end better go for the best ones than feel disappointed. Even if you spend a couple of dollars more. Good lesson.
These are plain basic tea light candles, and for the price I though they were going to be the thicker ones, but they're not. They do last a while so that's the best thing about them. I use tea light candles for scented oil burners around my home, so you can imagine that if I'm going to spend $10 for a bag, I would expect to get a lot, but these only come with 100. Ikea sells packs of 100 unscented tea light candles for $3.99. I was lazy to go to the store and buy some so I settled for these and added them to my Amazon order, but next time I think I'll save myself the trouble and buy a year's worth at Ikea instead.
