The finish on the pan probably started chipping 3 months in. The pan was always difficult to clean - never really 'non stick'. There is a layer of burnt material stuck to the bottom which I can't get off. My older non stick pan (different brand) I used for years and it never chipped. It only had a small amount of material on the edges which couldn't be removed. I only replaced it because the handle was loose.
Pros: Good sized (wide) pot helps make cooking curries easier. It has a heavy lid with a band which completely seals the pot when put on. This band has perforations which you can align with the snout to help drain water when cooking rice or blanching veggies. Cons: The handles heat up during cooking - not warm but hot. This is a big downside and the reason why I wouldn't recommend it.
Non stick coating works well, but food sticks to the two exposed rivets on each handle and is hard to clean without risking damage to the surface. The pan also developed a distinct curve on the base after a few uses, making it not suitable for my ceramic cooktop. I would have expected better quality control from a brand like Calphalon.
Seemed like a great pan at first. Heavy, heats well and evenly. Within a few weeks, we started to notice cracks in the finish inside the pan. We don't use anything metal with the pan so no idea how we could've done this. Now there is a larger section of finish pealing off inside the pan. Good thing I used a gift card for this purchase; I would've been really unhappy if I had paid for it.
Poor quality. Very thin material, outer surface coating marks easily and rubs off. I still have the previous version which is much better quality but is showing its age now. This version is not worth the price.
