When I opened the Amazon box I was given a wonderful surprise……vanilla wafting through the air. Mmm, these candles smell absolutely yummy before the package is even open. HOWEVER, once they are lit you can barely even smell it. At times there is no smell at all. I have a pig nose. I can smell anything and everything. I can smell things that others cannot smell. I was sooooo bummed with these. While I don't want them being over powering (cuz that will give me a headache) I do want to be able to smell a bit of something while it burns. Burn time is 3 1/2 hours NOT 4 as stated in description. If you hold the tealight up to a regular 4 hour tealight you will see that these specific vanilla tealights are thinner in height.
The candles work best in rooms with low ceilings. If there are high vaulted ceilings they don't seem to work very well or at all.
I did an experiment today. I have a small house. If I put one of the candles in the small hall bathroom with the door closed I get the slightest hint of vanilla. Very subtle but you can smell it. If you have it in the small family room (more opened up area), you can't smell it. I even put it in one of the bedrooms, again small but bigger then the hall bathroom, with the door closed. Nice, pleasant, very subtle aroma. So while I am not a fan of these for open areas, I might go ahead and burn them in my bedroom. It's really a shame though that they don't work well in the main part of the living area.
It has been over 4 years since I bought my two sets of vanilla candles and I wanted to do a little update. I had to stop burning scented candles for a few years due to health issues. During that time I had placed my vanilla candles in a large ziplock bag for storage. I have been using them for the last few months. Good news, I can smell them! Even in the large room with vaulted ceilings. :o) For whatever reason, the vanilla candles seemed to like being in the ziplock bags.
Something us scented candle lovers should possibly consider. If we burn scented candles on a regular basis, it is possible that our sense of smell becomes lessened if not immune to the scent we are desiring. I typically only burn candles from October through February. Just something to think about. Because I am having luck with them in the ziplock bag, I am going to purchase more of the vanilla when I am done updating my review. :o)
I purchased a variety of scented tea-light candles to compare. This particular purchase arrived wrapped in loose plastic and inside an envelope. The lackadaisical manner in which they were delivered rendered a damaged product. The little tin cups of the candles were badly dented which means when the candle burns the liquid wax is not contained and makes a mess either on your surface or inside a votive holder. The scent-throw was minimal; a family friend who truly detests the smell of cinnamon dropped by while burning one and she didn't even notice (and she definitely would have commented had she be able to smell "the vile stuff" ). The burn time was under 3 hours. I will not be purchasing from this provider again.
The fragrance in the package is very nice, but there is very little fragrance throw once burning, as other reviewers have stated. I guess you have to temper your expectations. This is a tea light after all, so there is very little wax involved, if you want a strong fragrance you need a larger candle. I have never found a tea light that does throw a strong fragrance, not even the more expensive major candle brands. I used these in my fragrance tart melter, and they added a very subtle element that was very nice. It was not so pronounced, however, that I will be paying the extra cost again as opposed to the plain, unscented tea lights. The most scent value for these candles comes from storing them in an open bowl.
The candles have a strong but nice smell but the way they were shipped is terrible. Some of the tins were crushed and a lot of candle wax bits had flaked off. The price was cheap so I really didn't expect the product to be super nice. If you are wanting these candles for a special occasion than I would choose another brand. If you just need these for in a hidden candle holder than the price is right with a great smelling scent.
While the smell of these is nice enough, it's incredibly weak. I can only really smell it with my nose right against the candle, and not at all while the candles are burning. For those with more sensitive noses than mine these would probably be lovely, but I prefer strong fragrances and these just aren't present at all.
Otherwise, they're your average tealight. They burn nicely and for about the time I would expect from such a small candle.
I’m not to crazy about the scent. Wish it was a little more subtle, the lavender smell is intense. I feel like the smell should have been counterbalanced with a more mellow smell. The candles themselves could have looked nearer in the package. The candles had many wax particles above and around them. The color is pretty especially when they are burning. Next time I’m sticking to unscented.
While the seller is very polite and helpful, the tea lights do not emit much scent when burning. They smell good up close before being lit. My cabinet smells better with them in it. Purchased a scented tea light at Ikea that burns longer and is cheaper than these. These are pretty thin (see photo comparison between Ikea on the left and these). These burn for two and a half hours tops. Not the best buy for what you get.
They're alright. You can't really smell them at all. The only difference between these and tea lights you buy for Halloween for 20/$1 are that the wicks are fantastic. I ended up packing about a half inch of highly scented wax into the tops of these candles, and the wicks easily burn through all of it, and then some. Wouldn't pay $8 for these again, though.
They last about 4 hours which is pretty good for a tealight, but I can't smell them at all. I wanted to recreate a cute decorative piece with the lights and coffee beans that I found on pintrest but these definitely won't work for that without a stronger smell.
