To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Not very well packaged, and a clear label on the product stating the warranty is exclusively for China only, so I can only assume this is a product manufactured cheaply specifically for the local market that has been imported for resale in the UK. Its working on its first use, but it wouldn't surprise me if it stopped working after a few days / weeks...
I ordered the drive two weeks ago, but it turned out the Seagate warranty already ended last month. Doesn't make any sense. How can a warranty end before had even bought the drive? Are these used drives? So far the drive is working well, but given the reviews, I see here it could break any minute and I have no warranty coverage. I asked Seagate customer care for a warranty extension (we'll see what they say).
Update: Seagate said they can't do anything about the warranty. It appears the drive was part of an enclosure and being sold as an external drive. I don't understand how Amazon would allow this to happen. I have my precious data right now on a hard drive that has ZERO warrantly.
Purchased this item along with the Nyko Data Bank - Data Bank 3.5" Hard Drive Enclosure Upgrade Dock for PlayStation 4. I wish I could rate this higher but I just can't. Because of the amount of money spent. I had a hell of a time with the install and ended up having to go to youtube to figure out what was going wrong. Then all worked well for a month or so before a spontaneous reset (not once but three times in as many months). I have to keep my software reinstall Thumb drive on hand because I never know when another reset will occur. I am not sure if its a connect issue (which would be the Nyko Data Bank), or a faulty drive which would be the Seagate product.
I purchased this drive for my NAS and it has failed now after two years. When I removed it I noticed two things about the drive, it says "Recertified Product" and "HDD sold as component of OEM solution and not for resale. The product warranty does not cover the HDD if removed from OEM solution." It did last for two years though is the good news. Also the drive reported that it was 5700 RPM when inserted into my NAS. Looks like this drive should never have been sold through Amazon though.
I bought this and when it arrived it only had 5.45tb available max. I know I'm not going to get a full 6tb as all my other HDD over the years come with 20 or so gigs unusable but to be missing 550gigs is insane. It is super slow 5400rpm is not the fastest but this is slow even by that standard and causes my entire computer to slow down if it has to be used at all.
