Great idea, but...

Ok, first thing first. I received this item on June 7th, 2022 and started using it immediately. It was perfect and I was ecstatic about it because it's hard to find a lap desk that will accommodate a 17.3" laptop plus space for a mouse, which it easily does.

The Good:
- As stated above, its large enough for my alienware laptop and mouse.
- Lightweight. Due to the fact that its lightweight, I take it with me most places I know I'm going to be using my laptop.
- It's thin. Not fat and bulky like some of the others in the near size range.
- Comfortable. Because its lightweight, even with the added weight of my laptop(which is quite heavy for a laptop) it doesn't smash your legs.
- Phone slot is a nice touch.

There isn't a lot of bad. Only one thing, but it's a total deal breaker and renders the lap desk almost useless, to me. Some of you might use the touchpad and think this is ridiculous, that's fine.

The Bad:

In just over a month of having the lapdesk, it has curved so much that might mouse only operates properly on the very edge of the desk. This is excruciatingly annoying. I hate touchpads and always have, so I use a mouse. Even on a mousepad, the mouse still struggles to function unless its on the edge. I don't see a real way to fix it without cracking the materials, but I suggest the supplier rectify this. Especially considering the $70+ price tag.

Quality issues require sanding to fix

Generally pleased with the product, decent build quality. HOWEVER... like at least one other reviewer, I got one with a few uneven ridges between the bamboo slats, which makes mousing nigh impossible. Rather than return it, I got some 120 grit sand paper, leveled out the ridges by hand, then finished it with 220 grit. Now I can actually use it with a mouse. Shame that it came from the factory this way, it's otherwise a good product. If you get one like this, just spend 5 minutes sanding, and it'll be fine.

I wanted to use this product However when I removed the bottom wrist bump bar there were there were nails protruding. At that point I realized that this bottom rest stressed bar was not intended to be removed.

Other than that it is a very comfortable product and aesthetically pleasing if you like the wood tones.
The ipad/iphone holster kind of really only fits your device without a case.

There are some caveats with this product And if these do not bug you bug you then it should be good for you.

Purchased a couple of months ago. Note I use this with a keyboard and mouse only. No laptop heat involved. I covered the surface with a large mousepad and gel palm rest. It has been only inside with a relatively constant temp. While I like everything about this, used for pc gaming in a recliner, the loud popping and developing cracks lead me to believe its not going to hold up well for long. I have two Bamboo cutting boards that have been seriously abused without deforming or cracking and had hoped for similar durability from this, disappointed for sure. Will update if/when if fully cracks in half.

Never been wet.
Only used with keyboard and mouse, no heat.
Humidity in my home is low, live in Southern California. keep my home temp stable.
Has not been dropped, sat on or abused in any way.

There is no reason this product should be warping (very slight at this point) or cracking (three good size cracks so far).

Design is flawed

While I liked the wood top style and full sized cushion (I had to return another lap desk that had 2 strips of cushioning instead of a single cushion that took up the whole space below the desktop), I found this desk unusable and ended up giving it to my daughter. Yes a stopper is needed to prevent a laptop from slipping, but the stopper on this lap desk was too tall, taller than the thickness of my laptop closed, and the height made it extremely uncomfortable to type. I ended up getting a different lap desk that had a cushion as the stopper. The overall surface size of this lap desk also didn’t work for me. It left very little room for anything else besides my 13-inch MacBook Pro. There was no space to use a mouse if I needed to.

I purchased this lap desk for myself and was very happy with it. My daughter kept stealing mine, so I purchased a second one. Unfortunately this second one does not have a flat wood top. As you can see in the picture, it is curved which does not work well when using it with a lap top. A wobbly laptop renders it useable for my purpose. So, it would seem to me that quality control is lacking in the manufacture of this laptop desk.

This is a great lap desk no doubt about it. I love all the features that are built in. What I don't love is the poor construction. Fortunately I'm a woodworker and have the tools to fix it. But when we received the product there were staples poking out. I have a toddler and I was scared he was going to get scraped or poked. That's mainly why this is getting 3 stars. When you send out a product I expect the quality I pay for. Not to have to waste my time fixing mistakes that were made.
