Not sturdy at all-- Not worth the money. Only buy if your laptop is ultra-light.

Very disappointed in this product. Bought it to replace my old Sofia + Sam lap desk, and even though it was getting scruffy-- it was still much MUCH better than this one. I have an MSI gaming laptop that only weighs about 4-5 pounds, with a very light mouse and external keyboard. My laptop is not big, it fits right on the lap desk as it is 15". I've had this lap desk for a little over 6 months, and keep in mind I was not being rough with it at all.

About a week in, I noticed that the "carbon black" coating was peeling off. I filled in the spots with sharpie to blend it in. Soon after that, I noticed that the lap desk was BENDING from the weight of my laptop when I picked it up, and it was actually splitting apart. My laptop is not heavy at all. It seems like this lap desk is made out of some cheap cardboard or particle-board type material. I also wish there was more of a barrier or cushion for the mouse area. Not only was my wrist not properly supported, but my mouse would slide right off every time I shifted my weight while sitting with this lap desk.

All in all, this lap desk is not worth $34. Go buy the Sofia + Sam one, which is not much more expensive and is MUCH more sturdy than this one. That one lasted me for years. Again, very disappointed in this product.

The ledge is far too shallow, and my laptop will not stay in place but constantly slides forward. I probably cannot use it for drawing either, because I made the mistake of getting the one with the mousepad, and that will be in the way. Not sure what I CAN use this for, but it doesn't meet my needs.

I have bought several similar products to use while working from home. This one is terrible and cheaply made. When I took it out of the box, the mouse pad portion was already peeling. I'm returning it. Don't waste your money.

Defective Out Of The Box, Support is Frustrating

Normally I do not write reviews on Amazon for items like this. But I feel the need in this case. Buyer beware, know what your buying, if not for easy returns, I would be changing the way I buy things. This unit is nothing like you would expect for the money. Out of the box its defective, with defects in what seems to be a plastic film carbon fiber look. The entire unit feels like a wrapped cardboard, plastic and very thin fabric pillow, maybe stuffed with shredded paper, not 100% sure. I would be afraid it would tear with ease, with any use. I get things are not made to last, but these manufacturers are making things cheaper and cheaper and some offer zero support, when it arrives defective. I reached out, just to get a replacement and it was a waste of time which made me realize it's not even worth what was paid. Calling the number you call for support provided no responce, as its forever busy. For a sub $40 item at the time of this purchase, I would say imho keep looking and or dont have high expectations.

Unlike some other reviewers, I haven't had an issue with my mouse pad coming unglued or the entire thing falling apart, but what I can say is that the "pillows" on the bottom that hold the cushioning are so poorly made that I am constantly finding feathers on my carpet. The feathers are obviously coming from this item since I have purchased no other items recently that contain feathers and it's obvious after 6 months of use that there is a lot less cushioning on this item than when it was new.

It really is appalling that something of this low quality costs as much as it does. It probably should cost $10 max given that it's clearly a disposable item.
