This looks great, but in reality, is terrible. The small bar intended to hold your computer in place and prevent it from slipping off the bottom is way too small. It is not tall enough to catch your computer so it just slides over it. Also, the desk is way too wide. Very difficult to sit on a couch and manage this without hitting the back cushions of the couch. Also, the top surface of this thing is extremely slippery and the computer just slips off. So, if not for the: size; slipperiness and malfunctioning stop, it would be ok. Don't buy this. I'm back on Amazon to buy a different one. I'm going to make sure there's a pad along the bottom edge.
Pros: - Nice design idea however see cons below - Lightweight -Aesthetically pleasing
Cons: - Broke after < 2 years under gentile regular use - The mouse pad on the side creates a weak spot in the lap desk which is where mine has failed - It's still being held together from the lamination and pad but the crack is progressing - I have another lap desk from another company for over a decade right now with no issues other than normal wear -Disappointed - I really wanted to like this lap desk but there are higher quality options out there IMO
I've ordered a few of these based off the first one I owned. Though they are supposed to be the same, they are very different. The first one I owned a friend gave me. It had no problems. I bought another for my House but they all seem to have this same problem.
The gap in between the cushions that sit on your lap is problematic. It doesn’t allow it to sit flat unless it’s literally right against your stomach, and I have long legs—the gap is too wide, and the whole desk is just a bit too big. I thought the airflow would be good, but it just slides off my lap all the time if you move or don’t sit exactly 90Degrees perpendicular to it. I can’t use it and I’ve passed my return window so I guess I’m keeping it. I just use a pillow all the time now. *shrug*
We ordered two of these, one black and the other pink. The mouse pad on the pink one has not held up at all. Less than two weeks of purchase material started coming up. The black one I have not had any issues with so I am not sure if they are the same as far as materials/adhesives go.
Everything else about it is great, but after ONE use, the glue backing on mouse pad started coming up around the edges, then when I propped it against the wall, it peeled off completely! Normal use for about an hour, no cleaners used, it just came off. Really disappointed because it's comfortable and sturdy, but can't recommend when I have to glue it down myself.
This was well constructed, just poorly conceived. I guess it's "lightweight" compared to some things, but it weighs more than my macbook air, so it more than doubled the weight on my lap, and then concentrated along the 2 foam strips pressing into my thighs. I found it really uncomfortable to work this way, or especially just to browse the web, or watch a movie.
Prior, I had just thrown a pillow on my lap, and put the laptop on that. The main thing I wanted it for was to raise it a few inches, but it was also nice to have something softer and warmer than the cold, hard metal.
I tried this product for a week, and honestly, it was so much worse than the pillow. Raised it about the same, but the pillow is much softer, much lighter, and spread the weight over the entire length.
I guess if you're using a mouse, the surface of this product would help, although it slides off. And it looks more "professional," but I use it on my couch, and don't really care. I'd prefer the device that actually gets the job done best, and that was by far the pillow.
Seems like they kind of started with a pillow, and spent a lot of money to create something much worse.
