3.0 out of 5 stars Only problem - The device shelf does not keep a laptop from sliding off if you have a shell case
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 12 January 2023
Colour Name: Black CarbonVerified Purchase
Update: I opted not to keep this lap desk. The surface is too "slippery", nothing stays on the desk. The slot meant for cell phone is not deep enough in my opinion (understanding that one can only make slot as deep as the thickness of the desk). May be worthwhile making the slot wider allowing us to place our phone on its side - would be more secure that way.

At first glance, I was very pleased with the lap desk. Liked it's size, how comfortable it feels on my lap, its weight... But once I placed my laptop on it, I wasn't sure anymore.
The main reason for purchasing this style lap desk was the absence of a wrist cushion but I wanted something I could move around without risking my laptop sliding off. I had hoped the device shelf would meet that requirement. Sadly, if you have a shell case on your laptop, the shelf does not prevent the laptop from sliding off the desk.
Overall, the lap desk serves its purpose IF you do not have a shell case. Dilemma when selecting/keeping this lap desk... use the lap desk without the shell case? And that's where I'm undecided.
I'm open to suggestions for a similar lap desk that has a device shelf that can be used with a laptop that has a shell case.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but I'm having trouble with the mouse pad
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 5 February 2022

I finally got one of these because I was using a lap snack tray surrounded by a lip, understandably to keep things from sliding off, but it got in the way of my laptop's power cord and was otherwise not sturdy itself. This is nicer with a mostly flat, smooth, sturdy surface with no lip except for the ledge on the bottom to keep the laptop from sliding off, and the mouse pad on the right side with the slot for the smartphone.

I have a 15-inch Macbook and fits right onto the space aside from the mouse pad, with even an inch of space left. The ledge to keep it from sliding off is fine; I don't find it hugely necessary but doesn't hurt. The cushioning on the bottom for the lap is comfortable; you get warm but not too warm like having the laptop directly on your lap. The laptop itself, and the desk's surface, can still get pretty warm, but that's on any surface and depends on how much you're running on the computer.

So my biggest trouble is the mouse pad. Other reviewers say their mouse still slides off it. They must have a very light and slick mouse if it's rolling over the lip of the mouse pad. My laptop's mouse, on the other hand, sticks heavily to this mouse pad, such that it's even laboring to move it, especially if doing something intense like graphics work. I'm using a Magic Mouse, which is a heavier mouse; another mouse I have is less sticky. But this is a little bit of an issue for me. One easy solution is to flip this lap desk so that the mouse is on flat wood -- and that's great for the Magic Mouse. It's a little stupid that the laptop is then on a bit of an uneven surface with the mouse pad on the left side, but it's manageable. The mouse can slide off the board in this case, so I have to watch to keep it even. I still don't worry about the laptop sliding off. Another solution would be to place a simple normal mouse pad on top of this one, as others have said

I do like the slot holding the cellphone up so I can see the screen and even touch the screen for basic things. So, so far I'm flipping this lap desk back and forth as needed.

Another note about the mouse pad: I have long arms, so I'm often pushing my mouse a little over the top lip, and the bottom of the mouse pad is hard to move over especially with the stickiness. (Whereas I'm fine with the positioning of the keyboard.)

So all in all, things to bear in mind depending on your mouse and arm length.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great product, already falling apart

As you can see in the picture, the mouse pad is already peeling up straight out of the box. Literally straight out of it. I haven’t used it yet it just arrived today and the mouse pad is peeling up.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little cheap, but not horrible

I enjoy using this lapdesk, but I’m a little disappointed in the quality. The mouse pad portion (pictured) was not well glued and was already peeling up when I received it. After a few uses I need to super glue it down so it doesn’t get annoying. I still like having this but I think I’d buy a different one if I ever got another in this style.

3.0 out of 5 stars The lap padding disintegrated
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 20 November 2022
Colour Name: Silver CarbonVerified Purchase
I've had this lap desk for over a year now. While it is easily portable (very light and the handle is great if your hands are full), I have an issue with the padding on the bottom. I am guessing that the pads are filled with styrofoam beans. After repeated use, the beans in my cushions have apparently disintegrated. I keep a small pillow nearby to put between my lap and the desk for comfort. Aside from that, the mouse pad is a decent size and the phone holder is very convenient. Decent enough if you're on a tight budget.

3.0 out of 5 stars It didn't last
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 14 October 2022

Granted I have had my lap desk for approximately 2 1/2 years and have used it quite a bit but just recently the piece at the bottom that holds the laptop in place has broke. It's as if the screws holding it in place have broke and it's nothing I can fix because I can't get to it unless I tear it all apart. Also the section where you put the mouse has an indent in the middle of it. When it was not broken I really liked it. Unfortunately we seem to live in a throw it away society where things aren't made to last. Very frustrating.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall a good product
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 2 November 2022

I really like this product overall. It's pretty, functional and comfortable. I live the mousepad on the side and the "phone holder." It doesn't function as a phone holder for my phone, but it's a good spot for my chap stick or a small pen. The construction of the mousepad was a bit spotty. When it arrived, an area of fabric in this area was not completely adhered.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bendy is good for one thing
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 11 October 2022

Lapboard is fine, you get what you pay for but they traded weight for structural stiffness. What I mean is, if you try to pickup board with laptop on one end the whole thing warps due to the weight of the laptop and has the potential to slide off. Two hands it is then.

The slot for the phone is fine but not wide enough to have phone lay sideways and charge. Just make it an inch wider and also increase mousepad area and it would be great.

We’ll see how long it holds up!

3.0 out of 5 stars It’s good…

It’s good but not great… I thought it would work great for computer work and writing. But it is Too textured on the wood slab for anyone to write one it. I was disappointed because I thought it would be perfect for my daughters homework.
