Everything about the product is great except the that the surface isn't non-slip. This means that your notebook slides towards you, if you have it an any kind of an incline. I have put a rubber mat on it to stop that but wouldn't have expected to need to do that.
I’m 5’0 and weigh 187. This only fits me if I keep my legs completely closed with my thighs always touching— which gets uncomfortable real quick. Even then, it’s a tight fit. Gave it to my son. Works fine for him.
VERY lightweight. Doesn't overheat with a 14" chromebook running on it for hours. The surface could have been improved with a few pieces of grip tape. The surface is hard plastic and my chromebook slides off it and onto the bed/couch when I reach for a Dorito. A tacky surface and this thing would be perfect. Or stop eating Doritos. Never.
It's a cheap piece of plastic but it does exactly what I need. My laptop was overheating because the vents were being covered by my legs or lap. This solved the problem. Is it perfect? Maybe not but it solves the problem and also raises my laptop enough to support my hands while typing (keyboarding?). I would like it better if it had an extension for my mouse but I can live without it. Would I buy it again? Yes but hopefully it is sturdy enough that I probably won't have cat astrophic failure. Yes, our cats like it too.
Overall a good lapdesk, its sturdy and works for what I need it for. Only complaint is that the top doesn't lock down so you can't carry it around without anything falling out. However, when sitting or laying down my thighs flatten out the the width of the desk so I don't have much wiggle room when using it sometimes but it still works well. Material is a hard and sturdy plastic so it makes loud popping noises when folding/unfolding if thats important. Works well for using my laptop and tablet.
I got this lap desk so that I could better type on my iPad keyboard during meetings in which I don't have a table to set the iPad on; however, I find that this doesn't completely help me with that purpose. It provides height and added stability, which is great, but as I've found out the hard way, most iPad keyboard cases don't lock the screen into place, which means it can easily fall over while you're typing if it's not on an evenly level surface. Unfortunately, for me, this lap desk didn't fix that problem, because my knees are at a lower elevation than my thighs are while I'm sitting, meaning that, even with the larger cushion at the knee area, the desk still leans at an angle toward the ground, allowing the iPad to still slip from the groove in the case and fall (which I realize is more an issue with the case than this product; however, I was hopeful this product would solve that issue). This would be perfect if I had an even elevation from my thighs to my knees or if I were laying in bed, etc., so still a good product.
