I bought the 81 marker set first and liked them so much that I wanted more colors So I bought the 121 marker set. I found that while there were duplicates in the two sets, there were 33 colors in the set of 81 that were not in the set of 121. I bought a larger marker case to hold the combined sets. The case that comes with the markers is okay, but I had to reinforce the sides with cardboard so that it doesn’t collapse when open. I am not sure if I have all the colors from Caliart. I’ve tried to see if these markers are sold individually, but haven’t found them sold that way. I’ve never used Copic markers and bought these as an inexpensive introduction to alcohol markers. I’ve found that the Caliart markers are easy to use and to blend. I’ve used both sides of all the markers at the point and none are dry, and all of the tips are in great shape.
The Caliart 121 marker set is probably one of the best purchases I’ve ever made for art supplies. I am a professional illustrator and have worked as an illustrator for over 40 years, so you can imagine that I have strict rules in what I’m looking for when it comes to color markers. I’ve used AD Markers most of my career because I know the results I need and expect but last month I needed a new set of markers, so I took a chance and ordered the Caliart 121 marker set. After just a few days of working with these markers, they have become my new favorite art supplies! They are smooth, even and don’t bleed, like other new markers do. The pallet of colors is huge and satisfying and never leave you searching for a color you can’t find! Colors blend easy and go over my “inks” with out smearing or running. The markers work perfectly with colored pencils, giving smooth, controllable blending for an almost painted or airbrushed look. The broad chisel tips and thin fine tips are true and precise and easy to use. Take it from me, you won’t be sorry if you purchase these markers! I’m very happy to say that the Caliart color markers are outstanding and I will order more, as they are now my color markers of choice!
I'm not sure how I feel about these yet. Still trying them out. The colors on the caps throws me off! The color would be like a super light pale pink but when you write, the shade is way darker than it appears.
These are my favorite alcohol markers! I use them primarily to color 'print-at-home' pages on card stock. I purchased a smaller set last year and they still work great, but I upgraded to the larger set for additional colors. You can color large areas without getting streaks if you practice a little! The chisel tip is very durable and versatile and the small tip is great for detailing. The colors in the set are perfect for both vibrant coloring and realistic coloring. Plenty of bright shades as well as more transparent and muted tones. I plan to purchase more sets from this brand in the future!
I wanted to return these only to find out they cannot be returned. What a waste :(. I have frayed edges on the chisel tip, leaving ink that goes all off to the sides. Then, the color is very splotchy and even has small dots once it dries. Not sure if there is watered down ink or what is going on. I have other alcohol markers and never seen this before. Since I cannot return them, I suppose I'm stuck with them. Will be giving them to the kids because they are definitely not anything I can use with my art.
I have always thought of Caliart markers as affordable and juicy, and a great value overall. While the ink quality has not changed, the quality of the completed product has deteriorated. The markers have their numbers on both ends; however, they have eliminated adding the color name (and number) along the side of the markers. A great disappointment for me to take a step backwards, which creates more work for me. So a color chart IS shown in the ad, and I had to use that, wasting more time. Not to mention, #1 they forgot one color name on said chart (for R 317), #2. they incorrectly named R903 and Y903 as Light Orange; R903 is actually pale blue violet, #3, the chart stated Y024 was pastel yellow, but the marker states Y204. The last is that B811 on chart for Ultramarine is really B118 on marker. Too many errors that could have been solved adding color names to the markers. Will be the last time I buy these.
These are really great markers. They are full of color and last surprisingly long. There is a lot you can do with them. I’ve bought two sets for myself and a set for my mom. My only suggestion is I wish they would sell the colors individually too. I recommend them for artists as well as gifts for beginners.
easy to use great for beginners and I would say that I am very pleased with how well these markers worked and for the quality of a highend professional set these are that quality for a fraction of the cost. I have used a lot of markers these are a great option for the artist on a budget and these are 100% a great option and these are awesome for all artists of any age and I can say that these make a great gift for the artist you are shopping for
These markers are a great value. Tons of colors for the money. The ink comes out smoothly and the fine tip is good enough to get into smaller areas when used in a coloring book. I was hesitant, but the number of colors was well worth the price. The carrying case could be nicer. If you take more than a few markers out the whole thing wants to collapse but it could be worse.
I love the markers but the case is so flimsy I had to put pieces of cardboard in the sides to get it to stand up. I have found only 1 marker that was dry. These are the reasons I gave it only 4 stars. - This is a revised review. I've found several markers that had no "juice" at all!! Its frustrating for me when I want to use that color and nothing comes out!! I won't buy this brand again. This is why I changed the number of stars from 4 to 2.
