Ordered on 1st January (yes, my first purchase of the year), as you know, working day is 4th January. Arrive today, the 12th January. All the way from USA to Singapore, I'd say pretty fast!
Product comes in an outer shipping carton and an inner carton. No visible shipping damages on the outer carton. Product in good order, nothing major save some minor visual imperfections which is expected for an individually cast item.
Pretty happy experience, will definitely buy again.. soon!
Good, strong, durable, American made cast iron. Can’t go wrong. Use it on the camp fire, the grill or your oven... beautiful results every time. Perfect sourdough loaf, perfect camp-fire stew. Even the best enameled cast iron *cough* le creuset *cough* will chip or stain, but this will probably survive a nuclear blast.
My husband is the cook in our family (I clean up). He likes to use cast iron and we've already got quite a collection of skillets but didn't have a dutch oven. He made chicken, rice & veggies last night and it was AWESOME. The chicken, rice and veggies were all done to perfection. He was a little worried that the rice wouldn't get done but it was better than the rice he's made in the rice cooker and blended well with the chicken and veggies. There's just something about cooking in cast iron.
Since I'm the one who cleans up, I was happy that rinsing with hot water was all it took to clean it. I used very hot water so that the cast iron was heated up and I could season it with olive oil before I put it away. I got this particular double dutch because it has grill ridges in the lid so we can use it for meat and get those great grill marks.
I foresee a lot of cooking in this new addition to our cast iron collection.
This makes my fifth Lodge cast iron product ranging from the 1950s to current day. I bought this piece specifically for cooking IN A FIRE. No cracking, marring, or warping, and it was cleaned in a lake! (Don’t worry. That was only temporary.) As all current-day Lodge products, it comes with the “truck-bed liner” pre-seasoning which I will promptly remove with sandpaper and reseasoning to prevent any stickage.
If you’re looking for a quality cast iron Dutch oven, look no further.
Really heavy and good quality. Used it in my wood fired pizza oven to cook steak and grill veggies. Held up fine to very high heat (900 degrees!) and good even heat distribution. Washes up easy! Will last for a lifetime!
This pot will cover any cooking need that arises. Roasted chicken, vegetable soup, pot roast, you think of it and this Dutch oven is up to the task. Easy to season and maintain and withstands use on top of the stove and under the broiler. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a solid addition to their kitchen.
