This camera turned out better than I hoped. It's a godsend for any parent who is tired of handing their kid their cellphone so they can take pictures.
First off, this camera is generic hardware: if you search amazon, you'll see the same electronics (look for the signature pushbutton arrangement) available under a variety of badges with a variety of case styles. They're all the same camera inside. This one (badged under Seckton) was priced about mid-range, but came with a microSD card.
Usability: The controls are simple. Once I showed my 4 y.o. how to turn it on, within a couple of minutes he was taking photos, videos, playing games, and discovering features that I hadn't known were there yet.
Durability: It's definitely kid-proof. The lens is is plastic, and the glass screen is strong enough that my nephews were able to throw the camera across the room with no obvious harm to the camera.
Quality: The picture quality is good enough. Like any camera with a plastic lens, the photos have an artsy "Holga"-esque quality to them. The camera integrates two cameras: one forward-face, and one backwards-facing for selfies. Both work great. The camera also integrates a microphone so you won't lose the audio when your kid starts singing or newscasting into their videos.
Features: The camera integrates some primitive games (snake, for example). Enough to make a kid happy their there, but not enough to steal a kid's attention away for more than a few minutes at a time. It also integrates some pretty neat artistic features: colorful frames, sprites (hats, glasses, mustache) that can be superimposed on the image, and a few stranger modes (various color mappings, and some fairly nice "mirror" and "insect eye" distortion modes. The camera also integrates an mp3 player -- byo mp3s.
I'm really happy with this product. It's cheap enough that I won't cry when it is inevitably lost or destroyed, but good enough that the kid can take great pictures with it. I periodically steal the phone overnight and raid it for photographic treasures. Some of the photos the kids take are priceless treasure!
Images are very pixelated and not clear at all. Images are also corrupt when you transfer them to any device, most of the image goes grey. Also if you try to rotate the image, it goes grey as well. I get that the camera is cheap, but it would still to be nice to share the images that my kid takes. Disposable cameras and Polaroids have better image Quality. I wouldn’t recommend this camera to anyone.
I am amazeddddd by this. I bought it as a present for my sons 3rd birthday since he always steals my phone and takes pictures, so he’s definitely gonna get a kick out of this. I haven’t given it to him yet but I wanted to open it and I think this lil gadget is super cool. Its picture is no professional, but still pretty good for a kids toy. There’s kid friendly filters and frames and a time stamp you could use and you can even change it to front facing for selfies!! It holds about 50 pictures without the memory card and 17K with it!!! Oh and you can even take videos on it!! On top of all that theres three simple games you can play on it and even an option for music (haven’t tried that one yet). Although it’s tiny and kid friendly it probably is a little advanced for a newly 3 year old, but definitely easy enough to snap a couple thousand pictures on his own. I’m so excited about this and can’t wait for my son to enjoy it too!! This product is way better than I expected.
Video of my selfies using the frames / filters lol & picture of camera next to chapstick for size reference.
As a professional photographer and father, my children are always making arduous attempts to get ahold of my equipment or mimic my camera use. After careful evaluation of the item description and reviews, I decided to purchase these cameras.
Upon receiving the cameras, I was dazzled with the overall packaging and presentation. The box includes a microSD card with a full-size SD adapter, a lanyard and camera. I was very impressed that a microSD card is included. A lot of products continue to ship without them, charging an additional hefty fee.
The cameras are made of plastic but are very rigid and durable. I would have liked to have seen a better display image, but for the price and demographic these cameras are marketed for; it is perfectly acceptable, and the children love them.
One of the great features of this camera is the ability to add borders and filters to your images. This creates a whole new dynamic and dimension to the imagination and creativity your child will use and gain.
Another notable feature of this camera is the ability to record video. This is not something you usually find in a child’s toy, especially at this price point. My children are obsessed with this function and find themselves creating stories and snippets from their day-to-day activities and adventures.
There are games included which my children love. They were also thrilled to discover the ability to add music. I wish the internal speaker was louder. You have to hold the camera to your ear to hear the audio. This, however, is an added bonus and not the main function or feature of the camera, so I will not hold that against it.
The photos and videos easily upload to your computer at reasonable transfer speeds, allowing for an effortless archival of your media. The music files can be dragged and dropped into the designated SD folder, ensuring a smooth and easy transition from your computer to your camera.
Conclusion: I would strongly recommend this camera for children looking to explore their creativity and increase their technical skills, while becoming familiar with the ergonomics and functions of basic camera operation, composition and lighting. I am exceptionally pleased with this particular product. You can tell a lot of thought and engineering went into the design of this camera.
My 6 and 4 year old boys love their cameras. I ordered two of them. They are small enough to fit in their tiny hands so they won’t drop them. The cameras are durable enough so even if they were dropped they would withstand breakages.
I love how the camera came with a sting so the boys could carry it around their necks and not lose the camera. The string is a thin ribbon so if it does get caught on something it will break first before choking them.
The camera has several features like photos, videos, games, and picture reviewing. It even has a feature where you push a button and it will let them take selfies. So cute! They loved this feature too!
The camera came with a micro SD card. So far it’s held over a hundred pictures and some videos the kids took and made. You can always replace it with a bigger micro SD card if you are wanting to take these cameras on vacation so they can hold more photos. The camera also comes with a USB micro SD card reader stick that you just plug the micro SD card into the USB stick and then the stick into your computer to transfer the photos to your computer.
These cameras are easy enough that my 6 and 4 year old boys figured out how to use them. They love spending hours at a time taking photos when walking/looking at nature while hiking with us. They also wanted to take them when we went out to see Christmas lights. Something fun and entertaining for kids to do.
The camera was a decent price for how nice the picture quality was for such a small camera and the USB micro SD reader that came with it. They were shipped quickly and well packaged to avoid any damage.
UPDATE: Do not waste your money! The camera has stopped charging after only seven months of minimal use.
I purchased this for my 4 1/2 year old for a Christmas gift, and he uses it constantly. It is now six months old, and still works great.. The picture/video quality is not the best, but he doesn't mind at all. The camera is extremely durable. It has been dropped numerous times without causing any issues with the camera. The camera is really easy to use for a younger child. The SD card that comes with the camera stores a lot of video/pictures, and will delete the older videos/pictures to store new ones. The battery lasts for a decent amount of time, and recharges in less than 2 hours.
Waste of money. It was fun for the 1 day it lasted. Dropped on carpet and the camera moved inside the case. Won’t hold charge. Garbage after 1 day of use. I never write negative reviews but you’re better off giving your kid a real camera and putting a case on it. My 5 year old uses the GoPr0 without issues.
We ordered this camera for our son, he loves taking pictures and we have friends who have the same one that he loves to use so we ordered him one. We are stationed in Germany so we wanted him to be able to take pictures of our adventures. He had this camera not even 48 hours and the screen is moving around inside the camera.
The first one we ordered worked correctly a few days then would turn off if removed from the charger and would not turn back on unless back on the charger. Amazon replaced it and the second one did exactly the same thing after only three months. Tried everything including resetting to factory results. No such luck. Cannot find any warranty or person to contact at this company. Child is very disappointed but I won’t buy him another.
