To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Was a little hesitant to buy this but I needed a very small mobile printer. This was a good decision. A couple of important facts: 1. It works on my Android cell phone 2. It works on my iPad (miracle of miracles) 3. it takes standard U.S. 8 1/2" X 11" printer paper (as well as the A4 size)
Took a while to get everything going. Had to download their printing app - one for my cellphone and one for my Apple iPad. That worked O.K. But getting the printer connected to my systems took a bit of fiddling.
Another quirky feature of the printer is that if you want to print a document you don't do it from the document. You do it from the MT800 printer app. You have to search for your document from within the printer app - and that also took some fiddling for me to successfully perform.
The info I found on the Amazon webpage for the printer led me to believe that the printer might not yet be able to print from my iPad. Well it can - and does so just fine. Which is REALLY a plus for me.
This printer will solve a problem for me of needing to print a document far away from any desktop printer.
I was surprised at how well it performs, how well it seems to be made, and at the quality of the print. Another surprise to me was how heavy it was. Sort of like a brick (but in actuality, it's only about half the weight of a brick).
There is one BIG downside to the printer. You can't print from the file you have to print. You have to go into the printer app, and then find the file you want to print from within the app. Sometimes that is, at least for me, impossible. The ability to search for a file from within the app is EXTREMELY limited - and obtuse. So, if I can’t find the file I want, the printer is useless.
One other pain is that you have to ask for a code every time you start up the app. Which is a COLOSSAL pain.
If HPRT could fix that app so that you can print from the file, it would be far more useful.
Major issues trying to get it to connect to my computer in the first place. Then the printing size was strange and unreadable. Tried contacting tech support through the app as recommended. Unfortunately, it’s all in mandarin. After several hours of searching the internet, I finally managed to get it to print in a readable size. However, when I actually took it out to use portably, it wouldn’t work with my computer. My computer would see it, but would say there was an issue and restart every time I clicked on the printer name to try to print. I am currently trying to return it.
You have to Google "hprt driver mt800". There is a drop-down list for drivers and you just pick MT800Q - it will install on your computer. Initially the pages weren't totally clear, but after about 5-7 pages it will start printing like normal. Still haven't tried the bluetooth capabilities from my phone.
This portable scanner has very good features going for it. It is very light and easy to carry around. It does not take lots of space on my office desk or in a drawer. It has an inbuilt battery that charges through a USB C which is really cool. I found the interface very user-friendly and easy to install. I was able to download the app as per instructions and then print the documents in a very short time. I believe the ink drum are costly to get. I am just using them when I really need them.
They were very clear with no black areas on the print for the prince I have paid. Very fast and efficient. This is exactly what I needed. One of the most versatile and useful devices you will find. Love it.
I've searched on so many label printers that I can easily print the labels from Royal Mail and Hermes that easily and so much time-saving to drop parcel off as I always sell stuffs on marketplaces online. I'm really busy. But since got this label printer, it's so simple and fantastic way to print a label at home without any communication need plus able to print from my phone via WIFI wireless without needing to plug in my laptop which is brilliant! Very easy to set up and the steps are straightforward as just download app on phone/laptop then set up connection with the printer. Print speed is fast and includes die cut on each label too! Worth every penny I spent on this printer!
I like that you can print wirelessly, and that it is virtually a wireless device as it has a rechargeable battery. After the initial 3 hour charge, my first print was from a color pdf which I had to open in the manufacturers app. The app detected color and after notifying and prompting me changed it to black and white. I was able to select a few pages I wanted to print.
I had to load each paper one after the other finished printing and the 2nd paper jammed as it was inserted a little crooked. I popped it open, removed and tried again. The last page printed without jamming just like the first, you just have to pay attention while it grabs the paper.
The quality level I choose was medium and while all the letters printed a few where not 100% there, like an old typewriter. The quality of the machine itself seems to be heavy duty but we will see after more usage. I will definitely update this if there are changes as there are not many thermal printers that print 8x11 or A4 to choose from currently.
UPDATE I have used the glossy paper provided by HPRT and the quality of the print is greatly improved when using it. Support has gone over and above to make sure that I am happy with the printer and it's print quality and so I am increasing my rating.
This would be the perfect printer for me if it could actually print to an acceptable quality level. The 300 DPI is meaningless here because ever print comes out looking like it was printed from a printer that has almost run out of black ink. You have to print at the highest quality every time to have a decently readable document but no matter what paper I use and what settings I use, nothing prints at a quality acceptable for contracts or business documents.
My main purpose of buying it was to keep in work-provided accommodations when working abroad. I got tired of scrambling around trying to print boarding passes, or PCR test results, at the last minute when I was in my accommodations and away from the office. But the quality of this printer is so poor that I worry that the QR codes on the PCR test results and boarding passes might not scan properly.
Given that I don't need ultra-portability--I'm not printing from a car on the road--I am thinking of returning and getting something like the EPSON WorkForce 100. Something small enough that I can throw in check-in luggage, but will actually print acceptable documents.
As for set up, I'm not sure what is going on with some of the of the other reviewers, but I found set up to be pretty easy. The device came pre-charged and I used the QR code in the instruction booklet to download the app to my iPhone. I had to pair it through the Bluetooth settings rather than the app, but after doing so, the app saw it. I printed a sample document with the app and everything went smoothly. I found the app intuitive and easy to use.
Similarly, I downloaded and installed the driver on my windows 10 pc, plugged the printer into the USB and was able to print.
If the print quality were acceptable, this would be a perfect device. But I tried on three paper types:
1. Multifunction paper from Costco 2. Slightly glossy, higher quality paper for color inkjet printing 3. Highly glossy photo paper
There was no noticeable difference between the cheap multifunction and more expensive color-inkjet paper.
The photo paper did not work at all.
I did not try thermal paper because it is difficult to find and expensive. I don't want to carry a roll of it and the precut A4 or letter sheets are expensive and even from Amazon can take a week or two to receive.
Well. It’s a cool little printer for on the road!! Only problem was mine was used!! Pisses me off when they try and sell used stuff as new. Will be returning for refund!! So if you look at the pics you will see box is torn. Scratches on packaging and scratches on unit and fingerprints on everything. Thanks but no thanks!!
I was blown away by the compactness of this printer. It’s amazing that such technology exits. For me, it’s super convenient to take to job sites where if someone needs a physical copy of an agreement or I need a physical signature I just connect via Bluetooth and out prints a nice clean and clear paper.
Setting it up is very simply and straightforward. I can customize the amount of ink to use as the more ink the better the clarity but the quicker it is used up. Well technically isn’t not the typical ink as it is a toner roll but to keep it simple…the ink.
I use standard printing paper and it works fine. I have to “feed” the paper in to have the machine register the paper and then the rest is automatic.
I have not had any issues so far. Personally, I make sure not to keep it in my car if it is really hot outside so the toner doesn’t run but in general as long as it’s not in direct sunlight and there isn’t a lot of ambient heat it will work just fine. I’ve printer over 50 pages without any issues.
