This product works as specified, it just takes a deep pot (think pasta) in order for the water not to be touching the bottom. If you're Melting chocolate or something where water cannot touch the bottom of this pot, it gets 4 stars, but it's worth 5 if it doesn't matter. I can't honestly rate durability or sturdiness bc I haven't owned it long or used it more than once. However, I'd probably buy it again. You just have to be careful with steam rising up all around it bc of the need to use a big pasta pot to avoid water touching the bottom (when Melting chocolate).
I originally bought this intending to be making SINGLE 4" x 2-3/4" container candles (one at a time), which this works just fine for (JUST enough size/room in this to make one candle). However . . . I'm likely going to be transitioning to making "batches" of 4 or more same-size candles, which will make this effectively obsolete for that use . . . though, considering the very modest price, I'm sure that I'll have other occasions to put this to use. If this size meets your requirements, I recommend this item
we wanted a pot to melt chocolate & this works...the only down side is it is small so it'll melt the chocolate but isn't deep enough to dip the biscotti in...we were, however, able to dip strawberries & it was perfect...nice, sturdy & super cute...
The double boiler pot was exactly as explained. My issues with it is that it has a smaller capacity than I expected. Also, when used with boiling water, the handle must be held with a sleeve or potholder. If you are prepared to use small amounts in the boiler pot and a handle cover this item will work well for you.
It is a little smaller than I thought it would be. However, I recommend if you are using soy flakes measure more than will fit in the pot because it will melt down. if you are mixing waxes put the one that will take longer to melt. Then consistently add the wax as it melts. Remember not to put essential oils in wax hotter than 120 degrees.
I got this to make chocolate covered pretzels for the holidays. It was a bit smaller than I was expecting, but it turned out to be the perfect size. I could fit about a cup of chocolate chips in there and several pretzels. Super easy to clean and I love that the handle has a protective cover on it so it doesn't get hot.
I ordered this on the fly when I realized I need a double boiler to make some holiday candles for my craft night. It arrived quickly and on time. This double boiler worked great with my little pot. My only wish is for a longer handle. It's a great product and gets the job done!
It says it hold 480ml, when converted to ounces it should be 16.23 fluid oz. It is close though, don't get me wrong. It holds 14.26 oz. Which is fine, just wish I knew that when I ordered it. But it works for me and what I'm doing with it. It heats up rather quickly, surprised me for sure lol. Was very easy to clean, and pouring wax was so easy due to the pour spouts on it. While I gave it a 4 star, I can honestly recommend this product for wax melt/candle making. I cannot speak for the larger one on the size, but I do know it would be just as good of a product, but a little bigger lol.
