Prop 65 warning for carbon black but maybe it's fine?

So prop 65 warnings are a mixed bag. Sometimes they are for things like saw dust which - if you inhale a bunch - can give you lung cancer, but the warning is for something that has particle board and doesn't have any saw dust you breathe at all. So sometimes the warning is there for you to just ignore.

I tried and tried and tried to figure out the prop 65 warning on this product and I'm just a bit frustrated at confused. The ingredients are in Japanese obviously, and a photo translation of the packaging doesn't show that "carbon black" is in there but if you go to the English Kissme website it does say "Black 2 (CI 77266)" which according to the internet, is the FDA certified version of carbon black.

I have found stuff that says that it's definitely a carcinogen, I've found stuff that says it's safe. I'm PRETTY sure that it's allowable in cosmetics in the US in certain amounts. The problem with many of the resources that complain that it's dangerous is that they are already biased, hippie dippie, naturalist websites. Nothing against it - I am a self proclaimed hippie. However. I really don't trust a website with its own agenda telling me whether ingredients are safe, especially when they use scare words like "toxins" which are a meaningless bogeyman used to freak people out (for example, too much water is toxic, and therefore a toxin, but I don't call water a toxin because that's ridiculous. There is not real well defined criteria for "Toxin" so if someone uses that word I inherently don't trust them as much).

What I THINK is going on here, is it is believed that carbon black, when inhaled in industrial circumstances can probably cause cancer. I'm not sure if there is much research that shows putting it on your skin does anything. However, eyeliner is very close to the eyes and it's likely some will enter your body when you are using it that close to such sensitive skin. So is it dangerous if taken into your body that way? I have no idea. I have spent so much time researching this it's bananas. Ultimately you should do what you feel is right for yourself. Throwing it out here so that you can do that research BEFORE buying, if you are so inclined to do so. I'd like to think that if it was truly dangerous it wouldn't be allowed to be sold in the US by the FDA but that's just blind faith.

Precision brush tip delivers smooth even ink, but the formula cracks & is hard to remove 😕

Heroine Make's mascara & liners are somewhat holy grail status for many in the Asian Beauty community. I can see why that is; the 1mm brush tip on this pen executes a fearless wing! 🦋 The pointed tip is super thin & extremely flexible - perfect for beginners. The ink flows out in an even, smooth, and very precise line that you can vary in thickness with little effort. The color, as other reviewers have mentioned, is definitely more brown than brown/black, but I'm okay with that. I have fair skin with light features, so brown liner is actually more wearable for me.

As a woman of "mature" age, I realize I'm not the target demographic for this product, but that ain't gonna stop me from rocking a kitty flick! 😻 Unfortunately, the bad news is - if you have any wrinkling on your lid (or crepey eyelid skin) - this liner settles into & emphasizes that texture. As the day wears on, the liner begins to crack too, which is never a good look. You can see how it's migrating into the lines on my hand in the first pic. 😔

The other thing I'm not crazy about is how difficult this liner is to remove. My 48yo eyelids are wayyy too fragile for the excessive rubbing that's required to get this stuff off at night. The manufacturer wasn't even kidding when they labeled this product 'Super Water Proof'. They should've declared it soap resistant, too!

Here are the steps & products I have to use to get this liner off:
• Step 1. Vaseline. Coat the lid & lashline with a generous glob of petroleum jelly. Rub gently with fingertips, then wipe with a warm *wet* cotton round.
• Step 2. Micellar Water. Saturate a cotton round & hold over lid for a few seconds. Wipe gently, until no trace of liner remains. (Repeat steps 1 & 2, if needed.)
• Step 3. Wash entire face with a gentle cleanser, making sure to carefully include the eye area.

Final thoughts:
There is merit to this liner being extremely easy to apply with the precision 1.0mm brush tip, but the caveat of damaging my delicate eye tissue in the removal process makes this less appealing, to me. My eyelid texture doesn't offer any compliments to the way this liner wears over the course of the day, either. 😕 This isn't a bad product by any means; it's just not an ideal match for me, personally.

Kind of smudgy and doesn't last very long. It's probably ok for short term use. I wouldn't use it if I were going to be out all day and night.

Colour Name: Brown Black

This liquid eyeliner comes in a cute packaging. The color is black-brown so mostly like a very dark brown rather than being black. The applicator is very pointy and soft so it's easy to use and apply. The texture is super wet and it smudges in your fine lines on your eyelid if you don't be careful. I wasn't able to overline it as it removes the line below it which was so disappointing. It's not waterproof as it won't stay so long and it removes easily.
